The symposium was held at SWT 504, Shaw Tower, HKBU, and was hosted by Ms. Jenny Li, Director of University Engagement Office. In VPAS's welcome address, Ms. Christine Chow stated that since its establishment in 1956, HKBU has consistently adhered to the Whole Person Education philosophy and actively promoted interdisciplinary education reform. She particularly noted that Shandong Province, with its rich historical and cultural heritage, has been a key partner. With strong support from the Shandong Provincial Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, HKBU and leading universities in Shandong, Hong Kong, and Macao jointly established the “Shandong-Hong Kong-Macao University and Research Institute Innovation Alliance” to promote collaboration in research innovation, talent cultivation, technology transfer, and industrial development. This year marks HKBU’s 70th anniversary, and the University continues to achieve breakthroughs in Chinese medicine, communication studies, creative arts, and other fields. Ms. Chow expressed the hope to further deepen cooperation with Shandong in talent training and technology transfer. A video introducing HKBU was then screened.

Deputy Director Yin Xiaomin thanked HKBU for its warm reception. She stated that Shandong is seizing the opportunities of the “15th Five-Year Plan” period, focusing on deepening education, technology, and industry integration with Hong Kong and Macao, and advancing the development of the “Shandong-Hong Kong-Macao University and Research Institute Innovation Alliance.” She looked forward to further strengthening collaboration with HKBU in talent attraction, joint training, and platform co-development. During the free exchange session, both sides engaged in lively discussions on alliance development, youth innovation and entrepreneurship support, and the commercialization of research outcomes, reaching broad consensus.

The visit ended in a friendly atmosphere, laying a solid foundation for future in-depth cooperation between HKBU and Shandong in talent and research development.
