Hong Kong Baptist University and South China University of Technology Forge Partnership for Greater Bay Area Education Advancement

On 11 August 2025, a delegation from South China University of Technology (SCUT), led by its Party Secretary, Mr Zhang Xichun, visited Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). The delegation was warmly welcomed by Professor Alexander Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, and Professor Lyu Aiping, Vice-President (Research and Development) cum Dean of Graduate School. 

Professor Wai, in his welcome remarks, expressed his aspiration that the two universities to leverage their respective strengths and become trailblazers and role models in higher education collaboration within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Professor Zhang expressed his heartfelt gratitude for HKBU’s warm hospitality and shared his hope that the visit would deepen collaboration between the two universities in areas such as talent cultivation and research innovation. He also expressed his vision for exploring a synergistic development model that seamlessly integrates engineering innovation with humanistic excellence. The universities solidified their partnership by signing academic and student exchange agreements, marking the beginning of a new chapter for deeper collaboration in the future.

This visit has strengthened the partnership between HKBU and SCUT, paving the way for deeper collaboration in talent development and research. It highlights their shared goal of setting a benchmark for higher education synergy in the Greater Bay Area, contributing to regional development and advancing national strategies.
