On 1 June 2026, a delegation from the United Front Work Department of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party visited Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) for in-depth exchanges on deepening Guizhou-Hong Kong talent cooperation, Chinese medicine development, and industry-education integration.
The delegation was led by Mrs. Wang Fang, Deputy Director of the United Front Work Department of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, accompanied by Mr. Bai Zhen, Deputy Director of the Guizhou Provincial Department of Education. HKBU participants included: Prof. LYU Aiping, Vice-President (Research and Development) cum Dean of Graduate School; Prof. ZHANG Hongjie, Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning) of the School of Chinese Medicine (SCM), Cheung On Tak Endowed Professor in Chinese Medicine; Prof. ZHANG Ge, Associate Dean (Research) of SCM, Head of Technology Development Division; and Prof. HAN Quanbin, Associate Dean (Partnership and Extension) of SCM, along with HKBU colleagues.
The symposium was held at SWT 803, Shaw Tower, HKBU. In his welcome address, Prof. LYU Aiping stated that HKBU has consistently upheld the Whole Person Education philosophy. This year marks HKBU's 70th anniversary. He noted that the School of Chinese Medicine, as a leader in Chinese medicine education in Hong Kong, has achieved remarkable results in teaching, research, and industrialisation. He expressed the hope to deepen cooperation with Guizhou in Chinese medicine resource development and talent cultivation. A video introducing HKBU was then screened.
Mrs. Wang Fang thanked HKBU for its warm reception and stated that Guizhou is rich in Chinese medicine resources. She hoped to take this visit as an opportunity to deepen cooperation with HKBU in talent exchange, Chinese medicine research and development, and industry-education integration. During the free exchange session, both sides engaged in lively discussions on talent policy alignment, Chinese medicine research collaboration, and youth innovation and entrepreneurship, reaching multiple consensuses.
The visit ended in a friendly atmosphere, laying a solid foundation for future in-depth cooperation.
