On 22 July 2026, a delegation from Zhaoqing University visited Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). The visit aimed to further deepen the partnership between the two institutions and jointly explore new opportunities for higher education cooperation and regional synergetic development.

The delegation, led by Ms Li Qin, President of Zhaoqing University, included Ms Li Yan, Director of the Academic Affairs Department; Mr Xu Shihe, Director of the Science and Technology Department; Ms Li Sainan, Director of the Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Foreign Affairs Office; and Mr Wu Qing, Deputy Director of the Development Planning Department. The delegation was warmly received by Professor Martin Wong, Provost of HKBU. Other HKBU representatives attending the symposium included Professor Chang Song of the School of Business, Professor Wang Donggen, Chair Professor in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and Ms Yin Yu, Senior Manager, and Dr Kong Hanxiao, Manager, both of the University Engagement Office.

The symposium was held in Room SWT 803, Shaw Tower. In his welcoming remarks, Professor Martin Wong shared HKBU’s recent strategies and innovative approaches to transdisciplinary development, expressing his hope that the two universities would exchange experience and advance their work in related fields. President Li Qin expressed her sincere gratitude for HKBU’s warm hospitality. She introduced the recent developments at Zhaoqing University and conveyed her high expectations for closer collaboration between the two institutions in the future.

During the discussion, representatives exchanged views on educational development in the Greater Bay Area (GBA). They also discussed potential collaboration on exchange programmes for taught postgraduate student. Both parties agreed that, as integration across the GBA accelerates, they have an important role in advancing coordinated educational development and innovation in science and technology across the region.

This visit facilitated the exchange of academic and practical experience, strengthened ties between the two universities, and laid a solid foundation for substantive cooperation within the GBA development framework in the future.
