More Than Running – The Marathon's "Most"

Do you think marathons are merely long-distance running races? Not exactly! Let’s dive into the most “Extraordinary” world-class marathons!

The Highest Elevation Marathon: The Everest Marathon - Held annually in Nepal, this marathon starts at the Everest Base Camp (5,356 meters) to the finish line at Namche Bazaar, about 2 km down (3,440 meters) and includes a total elevation descent of approximately 2,000 meters. Runners need to pass through the highest Glaciers and Moraines around the stretch of 10 or 15 km, testing their physical endurance and willpower!

The Coldest Marathon: Polar Circle Marathon - This race takes place in Greenland under extreme conditions, with average temperatures dropping as low as -15°C. Runners will pass enormous glacier tongues and moraine plains and go through tundra and arctic desert, including a 3-kilometer stretch on an ice sheet.

The Fastest Marathon course: The Berlin Marathon - Having hosted 50 editions, the Berlin Marathon is renowned for its course with almost no sharp turns, flat and relatively straight roadways. With 13 world records set across the men’s and women’s elite races, Berlin has the highest number of world records over the marathon than any other course.

Which of these extraordinary marathons captivates you the most?
