HKBU
HKBU Fellowship Programme for Mainland China Visiting Scholars
The K. C. Wong Education Foundation was founded in Hong Kong in 1985 by the late Mr. K. C. Wong (1907-1986), a member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and a famous Hong Kong industrial and commercial entrepreneur, who spent huge sums of money out of patriotic enthusiasm. Its purpose is to cultivate high-level technical talents for the country and serve the four modernization of the motherland.
To promote academic exchanges and collaboration between Hong Kong and the Mainland, to enhance the teaching and research standards of the universities in the two places, and to contribute to the higher education of the country, the K. C. Wong Education Foundation and the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) have jointly organized the "K. C. Wong Education Foundation – HKBU Fellowship Programme for Mainland China Visiting Scholars" since 2008. The objective of the program is to make use of the rich academic resources and excellent academic environment of Hong Kong Baptist University and Hong Kong to allow outstanding scholars from the Mainland to conduct scientific research and other teaching and academic activities, to promote their academic development, and to assist in the training of faculty members and academic discipline building of the Mainland universities, thereby contributing to the higher education of the country. The Scheme also promotes exchanges and collaboration between scholars in Hong Kong and the Mainland.
The K. C. Wong Education Foundation has established the Mainland China Visiting Scholars Program for more than a decade, sponsoring exchanges between Mainland China and overseas regions and countries. Each year, HKBU hosts five scholars and one post-doctoral fellow from the Mainland under the auspices of the K. C. Wong Education Foundation to conduct academic activities at the University. The fields sponsored by the Foundation include science and technology, Chinese medicine, and business administration. Each scholar is required to submit a report at the end of his/her visit. The University submits an annual briefing on the financial and operational status of the Education Fund to the Foundation.
HKBU Academic Lecture Sponsorship Scheme
In 1987, the K. C. Wong Education Foundation established the "Academic Lecture Sponsorship Scheme" to sponsor scholars from Hong Kong and Macao to give lectures in the mainland, striving to promote academic exchanges between China and foreign countries and improve the teaching and academic standards of higher education institutions in the mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. This fund sponsors one HKBU scholar to give lectures at academic institutions in the Mainland every year, and each of the major institutions in Hong Kong nominates a scholar. Each scholar is required to submit a report upon completion of his/her visit. The University submits an annual briefing note on the finances and operations of the Education Fund to the K. C. Wong Education Foundation.

HKBU Mainland China Visiting Scholars Programme
The Tin Ka Ping Foundation was established in Hong Kong in 1982. The foundation's founding purpose is "promoting education, educating talents, promoting culture, giving back to society, and contributing to the country" and its mission is "promoting moral education, carrying forward Chinese culture, and integrating world civilizations to improve the quality of China's education and contribute to the country." The Foundation has been committed to donating to public welfare in four places on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, with particular emphasis on education, and to practice the belief that "what is taken from the society is used for the society". For more than 30 years, we have been doing our best to contribute to public welfare and charitable causes in four places on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, especially in education.
Since 1991, the Tin Ka Ping Foundation has donated to the Faculty of Education of the University of Hong Kong to set up the Tin Ka Ping Education Fund and the Tin Ka Ping Visiting Scholars Programme (the Scholars Programme), which mainly supports mainland scholars and educators to visit the Faculty of Education of the University of Hong Kong and collaborate with members of the Faculty in conducting research, surveys, and academic exchanges. Since 2005, the Tin Ka Ping Foundation has extended the Visiting Scholars Scheme to the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; and in 2008, the Scheme was further extended to the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the City University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Baptist University, the Hong Kong Institute of Education, the Open University of Hong Kong, and the Lingnan University in Hong Kong. The aim is to strengthen the ties between universities in Hong Kong and the Mainland, to promote academic exchanges and collaboration between the two places, to raise the standard of teaching and research, and to realize Mr. Tin's vision of serving the country through education. In 2008, with a generous donation from the Tin Ka Ping Foundation, the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) secured funding from the fourth round of the government's Matching Grant Scheme to set up a permanent Tin Ka Ping Education Fund to support the implementation of the "Mainland China Visiting Scholars Programme" by HKBU, which will sponsor 8-12 outstanding scholars and students from the Mainland to visit HKBU each year.
Each scholar is required to submit a report upon completion of the visit. Visiting scholars who come from Mainland universities donated by the Tin Ka Ping Foundation will be given priority consideration by the host university. The University submits an annual briefing note on the finances and operations of the Education Fund to the Foundation. Depending on the actual situation, the Foundation will make additional donations to each university's "Tin Ka Ping Education Fund" each year to strengthen programs that are in line with the Foundation's mission and priority themes.
