The highly anticipated 33rd Olympic Games took place in Paris, France, from 26 July to 11 August 2024. This global event united top athletes from around the world, celebrating the spirit of Olympism and promoting values such as friendship, solidarity, and fair play through sports. Concurrently, Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) hosted the "Journey to Excellence: HKBU in Paris" event at the Caisse d’Epargne. This event showcased the University's cutting-edge initiatives and achievements in sports science and innovation, highlighting its commitment to pushing the boundaries in this field.
On 28 and 29 July, two panel discussions were conducted on pivotal topics: "Enhancing Life Outside Sport for Olympians and Elite Athletes" and "Science, Technology, AI, and Sport." Distinguished experts, including Mr. Joël Bouzou, President of the World Olympians Association, and Ms. Yang Yang, Vice-President of the World Anti-Doping Agency, shared their invaluable insights on the evolving sports industry, sparking engaging conversations with the audience. To reach even more audience interested in sports equity, athlete health, and global sports promotion, the event was broadcast online, garnering over 15 million views.
Elite athletes from around the world were invited to leave their signatures on the four signing boards, symbolising recognition of their invaluable contributions and passion for sports. These boards will be displayed on HKBU's campus, serving as a timeless testament to their achievements and inspiring future generations.
