The HKBU Symphony Orchestra Annual Gala Concert 2024, held on 19–20 April, celebrated "East-West Encounters" through a fusion of Chinese and Western cultures enriched by art technology. Conducted by Professor Johnny Poon, the 90-minute programme featured the Turandot Overture, Dance of the Yao People, and the Butterfly Lovers' Violin Concerto, performed by renowned soloist Jue Yao. The world premiere of Lion Hill Symphonic Metamorphosis, accompanied by the School Choir, added a unique dimension to the event. This two-day musical showcase symbolised cultural harmony, offering audiences a powerful blend of tradition, innovation, and evocative artistry.
